The Committee considered the initial report of The Netherlands regarding articles 6-9 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in 1987. During the session, members of the Committee requested information on ‘measures for the rehabilitation of young drug addicts’ (paragraph 219). The representative of the Netherlands then noted the country’s counternarcotics policy, which ‘involved stopping imports of narcotics into the country and preventing drug abuse’ (paragraph 221).
