UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Concluding Observations on Kazakhstan (2010)

The Committee issued these concluding observations in 2010, after its consideration of Kazakhstan’s initial report. In paragraph 34, the Committee notes with concern the lack of sufficient information about drug production and trafficking in the country, and requests that Kazakhstan include in its next periodic report detailed data on drug consumption, production, and trafficking. The Committee also expresses concern that few drug users have access to methadone as substitute drug dependence therapy, and the Committee calls on Kazakhstan to ensure that all drug users have access to methadone.
