UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Consideration of the Report of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) (1987)

In 1987, the Committee considered the second periodic report of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) on the rights in articles 10-12 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. During the session, the representative of the country stated that ‘drug addiction and trafficking were unknown in the German Democratic Republic, which did not offer a suitable terrain for the development of such phenomena’ (paragraph 147).
