UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Consideration of the Initial Report of Ecuador (1990)

The Committee considered the initial report of Ecuador regarding implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in 1990. Paragraph 137 notes that members of the Committee wished to know how serious the problem of juvenile drug addiction was in Ecuador, and whether programmes existed ‘for the care of juvenile drug addicts’. Paragraph 145 records that Committee members also asked about efforts for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, as well as what Ecuador’s policy was ‘to facilitate the purchase of medicines for the underprivileged sectors’.
