UN Human Rights Committee: Concluding Observations on Colombia (2010)

Considering the sixth periodic report of Columbia, the Committee expressed serious concern on the human rights situation in Columbia and the failure of the State to conduct proper investigations and punish perpetrators of gross human rights violations. The Committee stressed that this failure comes from the extradition of paramilitary leaders responsible for human rights violations to the United States to face charges of drug trafficking thus hindering the victims’ exercise of the right to justice and the State’s responsibility to investigate, prosecute and punish human rights violations.
