International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (adopted 16 December 1966, enforced 03 January 1996) 993 UNTS 3

The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) obligates State parties to respect, protect and fulfill rights of individuals subject to their jurisdiction and/or territory.

The ICESCR is monitored by the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights through reports and individual complaints mechanisms.  General comments are also issued as guidance to States to ensure effective implementation of the treaty.
