UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Concluding Observations on the Initial Report of Burundi (October 2015)

The UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights issued these concluding observations in October 2015, following the initial report of Burundi. The Committee acknowledges the State's ratification of various international human rights instruments, as well as the creation of the Independent National Human Rights Commission. 

These concluding observations also set out a series of subjects for concern and recommendations. In paragraph 52 the Committee recommends that the State party upgrade it's health care infrastructure and ensure access to essential medicines. In paragraph 56 the Committee recommends that the State party make available antiretroviral drug, as well as facilitate access to those drugs for persons with HIV/AIDS.
