UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Concluding Observations on the Third Periodic Report of Nepal (December 2014)

The UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights issued these concluding observations in December 2014 following Nepal's third periodic report. These concluding observations notes Nepal's ratifications of various UN treaties, however it does also note a series of subjects of concerns and recommendations. 

The topics covered are data collection and corruption, ensuring independence of the National Human Rights Commission, discrimination against marginalized groups, eradication of harmful traditional practices, measures that should be taken to ensure good working conditions in the informal economy and introduction of minimum wage in all sectors of society, right to health in relation to maternity and reproductive rights, right to food and housing, and it urges the state to adopt a new constitution.
