Cannabis Liberalization and Adolescent Cannabis Use: A Cross-National Study in 38 Countries, Yuyan Shi, Michela Lenzi, Ruopeng An (November 2015)

This research article was published by Plos One in November 2015. The research article looks at the correlation between cannabis use and cannabis control policies among the adolescent populations by examining likelihood of adolescences initiating cannabis use in 38 countries.

The report found that adolescents were very likely to try cannabis, boys were more likely to use cannabis, and the correlation between cannabis legalization and cannabis use was smaller in boys. Cannabis liberalization with depenalization and partial prohibition was associated with higher levels of regular cannabis use among adolescents.
