UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Concluding Observations on Cyprus (2012)

The Committee issued these concluding observations in 2012 after its consideration of the periodic reports of Cyprus. It notes that despite the State’ s National Drug Strategy 2009–2012 to monitor the improvement of the actions by its services and organizations involved in countering drug use, the rate of children consuming alcohol, tobacco, drugs and other harmful substances is high.

It recommends collecting data on the use of these substances and prohibiting the sale of such products to children. (paragraphs 40 & 41)
