UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Concluding Observation on Austria (2012)

The Committee issued these concluding observations in 2012 after its consideration of the periodic reports of Austria. It notes that despite the preventive, curative and substitution programmes, the rate of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and other illicit substance abuse is high among children and there is a lack of care and rehabilitation programmes to address those situations and support the children affected by them.

It recommends developing specialized and youth-friendly drug-dependence treatment and harm reduction services for children (paragraphs 50 &51).
