UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Concluding Observations on Albania (2012)

The Committee issued these concluding observations in 2012 after its consideration of the periodic reports of Albania. It notes that despite the creation of a National Committee to Coordinate the Fight against Drugs chaired by the Prime Minister, the use of ecstasy, cocaine, heroin and steroids is high among adolescents and the drug prevention services that address the needs of adolescent drug users are not available.

It recommends the State to address this issue and develop specialized and youth-friendly drug-dependence treatment and harm reduction services.
