UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Concluding Observations on India (2000)

The Committee issued these concluding observations in 2000 after its consideration of the periodic report of India.

It notes that the use and traffic in illicit drugs increased, especially in the large urban centres. In this respect, the Committee recommends the implementation of a national drug control pan with the guidance of UNDCP and cooperation/assistance from WHO and UNICEF. Moreover, rehabilitation centres for children who are victims of substance abuse should be considered (paragraphs 72 & 73).
