Drug policy and women: Addressing the negative consequences of harmful drug control, Julia Kensy, Camille Stengel, Marie Nougier, Ruth Birgin (2015)

This briefing paper by the International Drug Policy Consortium assesses the negative consequences that drug control has on women.

The report draws several conclusions, including that governments must make more effort to research into the different ways women are involved in the drug trade and the potential harms that current drug policies can have on them.

It also states that governments need to ensure that women who use drugs can access gender-sensitive harm reduction and drug dependence treatment services without facing discrimination, or fear of arrest.
