This document addresses the negative consequences of drug control system and its implications for the human rights and puts forward the author’s main recommendations regarding these issues.
According to the author, the flaws in the UN entities structure and approaches to drugs contribute to the ‘daily affront to human rights’. He further advocates for the need to interpret drug conventions in line with human rights law, for international guidelines on human rights and drug control and new human rights based indicators of success of this system.
