Communications report of the Special Rapporteur on the right to health: Brazil, Anand Grover (2011)

The Special Rapporteur notes that following a dispute between the Brazil's patent authority- INPI- and the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) which gives prior consent to patents granted by INPI , the Advocate-General of the Union had to intervene. However, his decision on the patent applications in the pharmaceutical area will likely affect the right of access to medicines in Brazil.
