This report puts forward human rights guidelines for pharmaceutical companies in relation to the right of everyone to access to medicines. The main recommendation is that the companies should integrate human rights (including the right to the highest attainable standard of health) in all their strategies, policies and programmes. It is also advised that their clinical trials should observe human rights standards, including non-discrimination, equality and the requirements of informed consent.
