UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Concluding Observations on the Combined Second and Third Periodic Reports of Liechtenstein

Date: 23 June 2017

The Committee welcomes the submission of the combined second and third periodic reports of the State party and the submission of the written replies to the list of issues (E/C.12/LIE/Q/2-3/Add.1). The Committee also appreciates the constructive and frank dialogue that it held with the State party’s multisectoral delegation

The committee notes in paragraph 28 its appreciation of the State party's efforts to combat the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco and highlights that there have been positive results to a variety of measures taken however it remains concerned that despite this, the consumption of illicit drugs has increased.

In paragraph 29, the Committee recommends that the State party continues to conduct awareness-raising programmes about the serious health risks associated with drug abuse, and provide appropriate health care, psychological support services and rehabilitation to drug users in need to such services. The Committee also refers the State party to its general comment No. 14 (2000) on the right to the highest attainable standard of health.
