Drug War Alternatives That Work: Overcriminalized: Substance Abuse (October 2014)

Date: 09 August 2014

This mini- documentary was published by Brave New Films in October 2014. The documentary shows the failure of the criminal justice system to help drug users by continuously incarcerating them rather than rehabilitating them.

The mini-documentary shows the overwhelmingly positive effect of the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) programme in Seattle, which is an alternative to incarceration for people who use drugs. The harm reduction programme gives drug users a chance through providing individualized case services, substance abuse treatment, housing or job training.
