Draft Resolution Submitted by the President of the General Assembly: Our Joint Commitment to Effectively Addressing and Countering the World Drug Problem (April 2016)

This draft resolution was published by the UN General Assembly in April 2016. The draft resolution adopts a outcome document, drafted by the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs in preparation of UNGASS 2016.

The outcome paper's main body makes a series of operational recommendations tackling issues from demand reduction and related measures, including prevention and treatment, as well as other health-related issues; responses to drug-related crime; and countering money-laundering and promoting judicial cooperation; cross-cutting issues: drugs and human rights, youth, children, women and communities; strengthening international cooperation based on the principle of common and shared responsibility; and alternative development: regional, interregional and international cooperation on development-oriented balanced drug control policy; addressing socioeconomic issues.
