Special Session of the General Assembly on the World Drug Problem to be held in 2016, Commission on Narcotic Drugs (March 2016)

This report was published by the UN Economic and Social Council in March 2016. The report sets out the Commission on Narcotic Drugs' own statement regarding the world drug problem, as well as challenges and points to note in relation to this issue.

The report also make a series of operational recommendations. These operational recommendations cover issues such as demand reduction and related measures, including prevention and treatment, as well as other health-related issues; responses to drug-related crime; and countering money-laundering and promoting judicial cooperation; cross-cutting issues: drugs and human rights, youth, children, women and communities; strengthening international cooperation based on the principle of common and shared responsibility; and alternative development: regional, interregional and international cooperation on development-oriented balanced drug control policy; addressing socioeconomic issues.
