UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Concluding Observations on the Initial Report of Namibia (March 2016)

The UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights issued these concluding observations in March 2016. The Committee welcomes the State's legislative, institutional and policy measures taken to promote economic, social and cultural rights. 

These concluding observations also set out a series of subjects of concern and recommendations to the State. In paragraph 70 the Committee expresses its concern at the prevalence of alcohol consumption and drug use among school-aged children. The Committee recommends that measures are taken for the prevention of substance abuse among children, and facilitate access for treatment of drug addiction.
