Report of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (1993)

This report describes the activities and deliberations of the Working Group, as well as its conclusions and recommendations.

According to one of its resolutions, the Working Group acknowledges the consequences of the acts of violence committed by armed groups and by drug traffickers, such as human rights abuses, the exile of many people and abductions. However, it highlights that its mandate covers only detentions ordered or practiced by the State, and not by non-State or private organized movements.
